A unique service offering both art and play therapy in Melbourne's North East
Lilly Pilly Art Therapy, Play Therapy & Counselling is a mental health service in Doncaster East and Mill Park, Melbourne.
We are a neuroaffirming, trauma-informed practice that combines creative arts interventions with the principles of neuroscience for a unique and effective approach to wellbeing.
Our work supports the neurodiverse community (including autism and ADHD), and associated mental health impacts including: anxiety, depression, social challenges, self esteem and identity, educational difficulties, autistic burnout and complex trauma.
We also specialise in the unique needs of neurodiverse girls and women.
Art therapy (also known as creative arts therapy) uses the power of creativity within a therapeutic relationship to support healing, change and growth.
Art therapy uses creative processes like drawing, painting, sculpting, or collage-making to help individuals express emotions, reduce stress, and improve mental well-being. Being creative provides insight, growth, self-awareness and relief from overwhelming experiences without the need for words.
The focus is on self-expression and emotional healing rather than artistic skill or technique!

Play therapy uses play to help us express emotions, process experiences, and develop new coping skills. It provides a safe, structured environment where we can use toys and storytelling to communicate feelings we may not be able to express verbally. Therapists observe and engage with you in play to gain insight into emotions and guide you toward healing and growth.
Synergetic Play Therapy® combines the power of playfulness with understanding the impact of stress on the nervous system, interpersonal neurobiology, attachment theory, mindfulness and self-regulation.
The aim is to build authenticity and resiliency by increasing your capacity to cope with stress - at any age!

Neuropsychotherapy is an emerging field in Australia. It is an integrative approach to therapy that combines the fundamentals of neuroscience with traditional psychotherapy interventions including art therapy, play therapy and talk therapy (counselling).
Neuropsychotherapy focuses on how brain structure, function, and neural pathways influence our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, blending together therapeutic interventions that promote lasting change at both a psychological and neurological level.
Key areas of neuropsychotherapy include the neurobiology of behaviour and attachment, neuroplasticity and mental health, emotional regulation, trauma and our stress responses, and the science of autism and ADHD.
